Maldives Anaesthesiologists ASSOCIATION

PRESIDENT's Words

Welcome to the Maldives Anaesthesiologists Association’s website!  I am excited about the launch of this website, as I hope that it will allow us to communicate with you in a much more effective manner. Please feel free to send us suggestions, inquiries, or comments.

Our major goal for the organization is to broaden the influence and impact we have on the community, and to increase the identity that we have in the community. I hope this website will reflect our strategic vision for the future which is to access to safe anesthesia, maintain standards of practice of anesthesiology in Maldives and uniting all anesthesiologists working in Maldives.  We aim to be innovative, informative, and involved.

As you all are aware that not only the country but the whole world is going through challenging times due to the deadly COVID -19 Pandemic. Taking this opportunity, I offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the healthcare heroes, everyone at frontline serving fearlessly and specially to all those who have made countless sacrifices. We all owe you an incalculable debt.

Together we can!

Founding Member's Words

Dr. Rizana Abdul Ghafoor
Consultant Anaesthesilogists

It gives me pride and honour to write a few words here as one of the founder members of Maldives Anaesthesiologist’s Association. To reiterate, our purpose and aims are:

  1. Improve quality of anaesthetic services both for surgical and non surgical conditions and to maintain and improve Intensive Care Services.
  2. Improve awareness among the general public.
  3. Maintain professionalism and standard among anaesthetic colleagues.
  4. Be part of international organisations to keep upto date with current concepts.

It has been a slow but definite progress. One of the main difficulties being training and qualification of the specialty among the local medical community. I have faith that the existing members will play a pivotal role in getting more junior doctors to take up the profession.

With my sincerest wishes and prayers to all my medical colleagues who strive to care for our patients.. may God give you strength to move forward always.
